“Best moments happen when they are unplanned”
Above Quote is heard many times but experienced just ten months ago. It is an episode of January when most people were working on their new year goals, me and my crazy friends were searching a place to skidoo into the mountains.
After few minutes of surfing on net, I came across few pictures of mystic snow-capped mountains on Travellency. Bewildered by the beauty of the landscape, my friend contacted travellency team for exciting weekend trip to Parashar lake and immediately booked this adventurous trek.
The journey took its start on chilly night from Delhi at 10:00 PM and we reached Mandi, popularly known as Chotta Kashi at morning, 8:00 AM. We received great welcome by travel expert from travellency. With the mixed feeling of tiredness and enthusiasm, we were made to check into an hotel at Mandi. We took ample rest and then headed towards Baaghi Village by cab.
Trek started at morning 11:00 AM, and the view of mountains from the base was mesmerising which increased our anxiety to reach to the top. The trail begins with a steep ascent and then gradually it eases. Walking through the woods, we could see full view of Dhauldhar range and took a break for short photo session. After 15 minutes break, we continued the trail crossing the occasional windy currents.
As we ascended, we could not feel cold anymore as our body grew warm by continuous walking. Clicking some pictures on the way, we came across a short stretch of motorable road and then reached place named Til where we bought snacks and refilled our water bottles and later, we continued on kacchaa road through the oak forest. Crossing to apple orchards, we walked on about 300 m stretch of steep slope.
Finally, we were there. Woahhhh!!! The view was more than we expected. We were stupefied with the fantabulous green ranges touching the blue sky. The 180° view of Dhauladhar, Pir Pinjal and Kinnaur mountain ranges left us speechless. Sunlight falling on the mountains added sparkling beauty to the ranges. After all, our 2 hours trek was all worth. There it was, Prashar Lake with a floating island “Phumdi Island” at one corner of the lake. The travel expert told us that the island is mass of vegetation that keeps on changing its position in the lake.
After a long photo session and sight-seeing, we had our lunch at nearby food stall and viewed the sun setting. Devoid of any housing, this place offers a finest place for camping. Exclusively in the lap of nature we were all set to spent a night in a camp viewing the starry galaxy, where bonfire and acoustics accompanied us. Our cook cooked delicious dinner for us and we had chit chat with diverse people camping along with us. The feeling was remarkable and unbelievable.
Next morning, we went to the exquisite temple of sage Parashar built next to the lake. The temple was built by Raja Ban Sen of mandi and is famous for its unique and aesthetic architecture with beautiful wood carvings. After taking blessings from the almighty, we trekked back to the base and then were dropped to mandi bus stand for our return.
The trip was extraordinary and we would like to thank team travellency for arranging the best trip. I feel delighted to share our experience through pictures. It’s a must visit place for every traveller and photographer. Unplanned things are beautiful.
